Make Your Own Feis Bucket

Great for keeping all your feis stuff in one place and having a place for your dancer to sit without creasing that beautiful dress!

There are many variations to the bucket--mainly in the cushion.

Have fun and see what works best for you. My dancer loved making this!

List of Supplies

5 gal bucket from Walmart, Home Depot, etc.
Bar stool cushion (or foam padding cut to fit)
Fabric to cover padding
Photos, window clings, stickers, 4 buttons (optional)
Clear laminate roll (optional) sold by cabinet liners
Industrial Strength Velcro
Stick glue, scissors, needle and thread

Decorating
Have fun and decorate it--either directly on the bucket or cut paper to fit then decorate.

We used stick glue to attach pictures and confetti.

Cut laminate a bit larger than the pictures to help protect them.

The Lid--One way to do it
Lay the cushion on top of the fabric and cut a fabric circle about 5 inches wider than the cushion.

Sew/tack it down to cushion on underneath side--no one will see what it looks like so it doesn't have to be neat.

Sew the top four indents down with buttons if you like. We found some cute shamrock buttons at Joanns.

Use the industrial strength velcro and attach top of lid and bottom of cushion. Don't actually put the velcro to velcro yet (cushion to the lid). The glue on the velcro needs to set overnight so just leave them apart until the next day.

Tip: if your lid is difficult to remove (some are air tight), grind off some of the edge/lip on the bucket until the lid comes off easily.

The bucket has been wonderful! It's great to tote around, holding stuff in and sitting on. It keeps my dress in perfect shape!

For my bucket I used velcro for the cushion. It's great. I just take the cushion on and off. This helped a bunch during a very rainy feis.

Also with the decorations I went to Kinko's and had them laminate it for me. This worked very well as when it rained for that feis it kept all my decorations dry. Though I did learn I need to laminate each page seperately. I laminated them all together in one piece and it didn't fit the bucket correctly. I had to cut each page and then stick it on. The sequin strings going vertically are there to fix mess ups. But it turned out nicely!

I used foam shamrocks we bought at Michaels last year and layered them. I also use a purple holographic bookcover paper (like contact paper) and cut out some shamrocks. Of couse I had to have pictures of me and my friends on the bucket.

The green bucket was from Walmart, they also had a pink. I haven't seen them at the store lately though.
