Make Your Own Coverup

For those busy hallways and crowded venues--protect your beautiful dress.

I used a child's robe pattern with a rounded yoke that buttoned up the front. You can also use a child's choir robe pattern but I was unable to find one. This one was made with Simplicity 8093.
Make bottom width wider and longer. I made this one a bit too long but better longer than too short. Set your dress down on the pattern to figure out just how wide. You'll also need to widen and lengthen the sleeves.
Use lightweight fabric, polyester or cotton blend. Something that won't wrinkle would be best. The sleeves could be any fabric. I used contrasting cotton (pre washed) so it would breath. It comes in alot of fun patterns.
The closure could be buttons, zipper, velcro. This was made with the grommet tool and snaps. You can also get strips of snaps to sew in. If you use velcro, please find the "no snag" type available at Walmart. Velcro is historically bad for these fabrics and threads so I would advise against using any velcro except the "no snag".

Some like the closure in the back.
